To compliment your treatment, we also offer private pilates sessions (often covered by insurance).
The movement at the core of Pilates helps you safely develop a healthy body - regardless of your current level of fitness. The origins of Pilates was founded on rehabilitation by Joseph Pilates. His principles of core stabilization and motor control are the same principles that form the basis for most orthopedic rehabilitation and therapy.
Initially Pilates focuses on connecting mind and body, as well as understand one's habitual versus desired movement patterns. As one acquires improved movement strategies, becomes stronger and more flexible, the exercise intensity increases and starts to change your body and the way you move. Corrections of muscle imbalances also occur as long as on-going attention is given to the pilates principles, regardless of the level at which you work.
“Rather than being separate or discrete, the five principles – breathing, pelvic placement, rib cage placement, scapular movement and stabilization, as well as head and cervical placement – work together to create intelligent exercise that is both safe and effective.” STOTT PILATES
